Queenstown Lakes Results

The first tour series event at Queenstown was a success and was enjoyed by most even with the gloomy rain clouds hanging over.  That was a good suggestion to play Queenstown Mr Ken Smoots the first Big Dog winner of 1978. As the Lakes course indicates there were plenty of water hazards available. So even though the yardage indicated a short course, it played longer with the wind and somewhat spongy fairway conditions. The Lakes course also played longer for the gents who decided to play from the GREEN tees all eighteen holes.

Gill Nichols played with the three long hitters and showed the bombers how to navigate the course by finishing with a net 75 to capture first place. Tied for second place was Bruce Grau and Bob Ingram with a net 76.  Greg Sadowski one of the bombers did manage to finish in the top four with a net 77 and low gross score of the day of 78.

Greg also showed his accuracy of iron shots as he captured CTP on holes #8 and #11. Tim Rice another bomber captured the CTP on hole #3.  The CLEARS were divided amongst seven winners with Dick Princinsky the second Big Dog winner of 1979 winning two clears on holes #3 and #13. Kwang Yim had a clear on hole #4, Bruce Grau had a clear on hole #6, Jerome Lyons had a clear on hole #8, Greg Sadowski had a clear on hole #11, Ken Smoot had a clear on hole #18, and of course Brian “Swing Made for CLEARS” Murphy had a clear on hole #17.

Have a good weekend and be good to all MOMs.
