Golf Rules

* Welcome to the KNUCKLEHEAD EVENT at [Blue Mash]

Game day decision but typically TRUE: [Email before the round will indicate which rule will not be TRUE]

  • Play from the [HYBRID BLUE/WHITE tees : @ 6294 yards  rating of 69.6/124/71] tees for all holes except for holes [Rule 80 below].
  • 80 rule — if age & handicap exceeds 80 then you can move up one set of tees for long par 4 holes as decided by committee
  • For Blue Mash that will be holes #3 & #16 where golfers that satisfy the 80 rule can move up to the GREEN Tees for these holes only
  • First and foremost, please PUTT OUT  ALL HOLES.  I know it is only a 6 inch putt so please putt out.  This will eliminate all arguments.
  • Maximum score for a hole is net double par.  So if you get a stroke on a par 4 then maximum score is a 9.
  • CTP on all par 3’s worth $5.    Sometimes the course will provide markers for CTPs. And sometimes they do not. We usually mark the CTPs with a tee and a piece of paper with your name on it.  Last group please pick up the CTP markers.
  • Please realize that the course will not be in pristine tournament condition.  So we are allowing for clean and place in fairway. Move ball out of aeration hole on green. Play the ball down in the rough.
  • Again the course may not be properly marked throughout so what we Knuckleheads have set is that all water creeks, ponds are lateral hazards. If your golf ball goes in there you take a drop with a penalty stroke.  You do not advance to the other side of the water hazard until your ball has crossed it.
  • There is the situation with the high grass/trees on the edge of fairways.  Sometimes the courses will mark them as red lateral hazards and sometimes they do not. We treat them all as lateral hazards ;  marked or unmarked. Play as lateral hazards for high grass.
  • Lost ball / OB. Sometimes the OB is in amongst the trees. Well Out of Bounds is Out of Bounds. We have adopted the local rule (Local Rule E-5) where you can drop it in fairway from point of ENTRY with a 2 stroke penalty instead of going back to original spot and re-hitting.
  • For Blue Mash there are OB stakes along farm property. Also OB stakes left of #1, #4,  and #14 holes.
  • Bunkers are also a hazard. So please play the ball down in the bunker. However if the bunker is not properly raked or has standing water then you can rake it and place the ball back in bunker. ONLY if the group agrees with your assessment.
  • NOTE: Drop area is FORWARD TEES for all tee shot carries over water and ravines.
  • For Blue Mash check for drop area on par 3’s with water.
  • > > Keep up the with the group in front of you < <
  • Both carts should track all of the scores and verify at the end.
  • However, it is the player’s responsibility for his own score & handicap
  • Most important point — Have FUN.  Golf is a difficult game.  TV shows only the players that are on a roll over the weekend.  So enjoy the day, laugh at yourself, and give others a chuckle.
