The Tour Series steering committee had a brain freeze and could not acquire appropriate tee times for Woodlands for Saturday Sept 3. Also checked in on the following courses Lake Presidential, Links at Challedon, and Enterprise – and comments from recent golfers were poor to miserable on their respective playing conditions.
Therefore as a substitute Quail Valley has graciously agreed to host the sixth 2022 Tour Series event. The grounds maintenance person decided to postpone their aeration until October so we could be accommodated. Quail Valley is an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course that offers an outstanding challenge with distinctly different nines. The front plays through a mature stand of trees. The back is more open with water lurking on seven of the nine holes. Course provides the opportunity to take advantage of demanding risk/reward par 5’s, a beautiful signature par 3, and the courses trademark fast greens.
Golfers will find all the holes at Quail Valley to be enjoyable and imaginative, the stakes are raised the highest at No. 13, the layouts signature par 3 island green (as shown above). The tee shot provides a psychological challenge for golfers of all abilities. Playing roughly 150 yards, the green is actually a lot larger than it appears from the tee box. Bunkers to the left and right will collect shots hit a little off line and there is more room up front than you might think. Still, any shot that lands on the island green is reason for celebration. Especially if there are onlookers from their café deck.
Tee times start at 11:00. Cost is $45 for greens fees; add $15 for low net, CLEARs, and CTPs.
