Multiple conditions at Carroll Valley on Saturday April 13 resulted in higher scores. Punched greens added some bounces to the putts, recent rains provided some standing water on the course thus forcing the conditions to be cart path only, and occasional gusts of 40 mph winds caused havoc to the golf ball flight.  Other than that the course was very playable.  Photos from above showed the group of players willing to take on the difficult conditions. Scores below will show the disastrous results. But FUN was had by all.

Kwang Yim used multiple knock-down shots to claim first place low-net prize by ending up shooting an 87 net 75. He stated that the key was avoiding the wicked 3 putts for him that day. Bob Ingram finished in second place just a stroke behind with a net 76. In third place we find Michael Jan who shot a net 77. Sharing fourth place was Mark Gardner in his first debut in the Knucklehead event along with Andy Weston-Dawes (also known as Andy WD); both shooting a net 78.

There were a total of 6 par 3s on the Carroll Valley course with several of them playing like a short par 4.  Bob Ingram captured the first CTP using a 7-iron on the short 140 yard #3 hole. Kwang Yim ripped a 4 iron to capture the second CTP on the #5 182 yard hole. Andy WD hit a 3 hybrid on the par 3 198 yard #8 hole that had hurricane-like winds whipping across the green to capture that CTP.  On the #11 200 yard hole Kwang Yim used a 3 iron and golf ball bounced through the sand bunker to rest about 15 feet from the pin to capture that CTP. Bob Ingram flighted a 4 hybrid to the uphill 162 yard #15 hole to capture that CTP. And on the final par 3 159 yard #18 hole Marty Sadowski used all of his Tug Boat power to hit a 6-iron within 21 feet on the hole that was playing more like 190 yards.

In the CLEARS category, the co-defending 2023 Knucklehead Tour Series champion Greg Muolo continued to show his great form on the first hole as he parred the lengthy par 5 488 yard hole that was probably playing more like 650 yards.  Greg finished with a 102 so makes one wonder what happened in the following 17 holes. Brian Duffy mastered the following par 5 fifth 565 yard hole with a sweet birdie.  Then Brian also made another birdie on the first par 5 hole on the back nine #12 hole which was playing 522 yards.  Michael Jan also captured a clear with a birdie on the par 4 399 yard #13 hole.  Andy Weston-Dawes  made a sweet two putt par on the #17 par 5 hole for the final CLEAR.

Hopefully everyone was able to relax on Sunday to watch another eventful Masters final round. And I hoped that everyone was able to replenish their Ibuprofen bottles after doing lots of walking and swinging.  And kudos to the newbie group of Mike Reidy, Eugen Murphy, Martin Smith, and Mark Gardner for joining us and hanging in there throughout the difficult playing conditions. Special applause to Martin Smith for still participating on the CTPs after injurying his shoulder on the front nine. There is more FUN to come in future events.
