Tour series #5 — We-Ko-Pa results

We-Ko-Pa offered a great venue at its Cholla course.  The desert boundaries along with the firm fairway and greens offered quite the challenge and some distractions such as the hanging boulder near the house.

However the BEAR (Greg Bayor) was able to score brilliantly. By keeping his negatives to a “bare” minimal he was able to garner a +4 points in the stableford system.  Tying for second were Gary Boukis and Bob Ingram at Even who were last seen driving back to the airport.   (Thanks again for picking me up Gary).

Bob Ingram was able to capture the CTP at the short #3 hole by bouncing off the sidehill with a 30 foot bounce and he also captured the CTP at the #14 hole. Greg Sadowski captured the longer par 3 #11 hole at 180 yards which will be the theme throughout the remaining week as he dialed in on the long par 3s.

Best recover shot was actually on hole #11.  In an attempt to play through the threesome of Bruce Grau, Greg Muolo, and Tom Stewart, Brian Duffy teed one up as the threesome were near the green.  His tee shot went astray a bit and rocketed into Greg Muolo’s cart and just missing Greg by inches. Unphased, Brian took relief from the cart path, pitched on the green, and sank a 20 footer for par.

Another constant theme through the week was Greg Bayor collecting the CLEARS as he grabbed four of them in this round.   Best one was a par on the 528 yard par 5 number 17 hole where the pin was set on the back lower level of the green. An excellent par. Great seeing you again Bear.
