NO love at Potomac Shores “again”
Decided to play Potomac Shores last minute to get another round in for the VSGA Seniors. I played this Jack Nicklaus course for the 3rd time since its opening and I have still not broken 90. This course is the one in Dumfries (dumps) that has severe sloping greens and fairways. So if you’re not short and straight, the ball will “go far” – deep into the woods that is. The course was in excellent shape and well maintained. Greens were fast but not as fast as before because the day was over cast with previous days rain. But it was still fast.
I ended up shooting 39-51 with 1 birdie on a 465 yard par 5. Disappointing round with couple of big numbers 8 and 9 on the back. It could have been a lot worse. For example I tried to drive the green on the uphill #290 yds par 4 #8 where I pumped 3 balls left and right. Fortunately, I managed to find the first one allowing me to escape with a 5.
Mr. Golis was also in the field and we met up afterwards to discuss some nuggets of life. We had lunch and beers. He is doing well and wishes everyone well. Of course you would have guessed his score on the course – NC, LOL.
Well the more I think about it, I should have stayed home that day having stuck in traffic for 2 hours and getting an HOV ticket (which I will probably fight). It also gives me a great pause as to why I’m even contemplating of playing the VSGA Seniors. But all in all, it was a great day to play golf instead of working. Isn’t it always the case.
