The Finale of the Knucklehead 2021 season was held at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, PA. The weather was rather dull and gray but rain held off for the Knuckleheads who showed up to finish the season in style (See Kwang’s outfit).

Leading off the first team consist of 3 handsome dudes, John Hassett, Johnny Braun, and Rick Princisky. Dressed and ready for action.

Like the tee shot at at PB Dye golf club hole #1, John Hassett stripes his drive right down the middle of the fairway for an auspicious start. Kwang’s snarky comment followed.  “John, you did that at PB Dye too. OK I don’t want to jinx you.” Well, John H shoots his usual 93 but say his lunch was really good. He did win  the CTP at #15 claiming that he used his sandwedge which flew 155. Would you believe this lawyer?

Johnny Braun graciously subbed in for the injured Greg M. Kwang remembers that he cleaned up with big wins at PB Dye 3 person skins with Kwang and Gill Nichols. Today, the Knucklehead editor was unable to confirm if there was a skins game between them but he had lunch and left without any comments.

Rick is steady and flies under the radar. Editors heard nothing noteworthy of his round. So Ok.

Following the lead group were Kwang Yim, Andy WD, Brian Murphy, and Bruce Grau.  Kwang Yim, who dressed in his bold and rather fashionable PINK outfit, was mercilessly roasted and mocked throughout the entire day for his manly wardrobe selection. Nevertheless, he played one of his best round of the season ending up with the 2nd place finish and capturing 2 out of 4 CTP’s and 2 clears. His only knucklehead move was playing the wrong ball (Like who finds another “yellow” ball in the deep rough near his drive?) on #2 and not realizing the mistake until he got on the green to clean it.

Bruce and Brian had rather lively discussion about where the ball had crossed hazard on #16. Bruce thought it crossed like 100 yards back where Brian thought it went in right before the halfway up the fairway. Brian struggled with his swing but he did manage to win a clear on #11 for $16 bucks.

Bruce’ rapidly improving game did not show up today as we heard too many OCO’s.  His putting was still strong and that thankfully kept him in the game but he fails to win any clears or CTP’s.

Flying under the radar was Andy WD. No one noticed his game until the final tally where he shoots 88 to garner a second place finish. Bruce tried to fudge his numbers higher but ultimately the accounting firm of Murphy, Hassett, and Braun audited and validated that he has indeed shot 88. Andy promises that he will have an official hcp and will play the TS next year. Interestingly, he never got any gripes about his PINK shirt. What’s up w/ that?

The last group was vying for the Tour Series Trophy and the prize money (except Michael Jan – the ATM contributor for the Knuckleheads). This group had the most to win/lose.

Jerome Lyons who had been practicing at Worthington Manor (place 10X harder than HH), shoots an exceptional 81 net 66 crushing the field to take the first place His stellar play also garnered him a clear on #11.

Michael Jan was not in the Tour Series however he did his duty in aiding in locating some errant shots for Jerome saving him bunch of strokes. Editors feels that he deserves a standard 10% “caddy” pay but Jerome’s cheap. Michael was a good sport and played to his handicap for 4th place finish. If we had another participant, he would have won $10 4th place prize. Blame Gill Michael. He finishes his first year with the Knuckleheads without any major controversies . He did grab a clear on #17 for a $16 smakeroonies.

The ever steady and “ball compressor” Dick Markle was in a prime position to do well. His other group reported that he is playing well and putting lights out. Unfortunately that must have been the other Dick Markle or the second guy Dick Markle as this Dick Markle swung 99 times to come in DEAD last. No clears but he maneuvered his trusty 5 wood to capture a ridiculously hard #12 CTP denying Kwang Yim’s 3rd CTP of the day.

Brian Duffy struggled today. His game did not meet his expectations or his fans (his wife and kids) and shot 91. No clears and no CTP for the usual Mr. Consistent.

Well Knuckleheads. That’s a wrap. Have a wonderful and safe winter. See you all next year!
