Thursday’s round was at a different venue being played at Barton Creek’s Fazio Canyon course.
The different venue did not disturb Bruce Grau as he rocketed out to a nice 42 on the front side and eventually a +5 overall in the stableford points. The highlight moment was a 6-iron on the downhill #2 338 yard hole par 4 which he was able to clear the bunker and land within 20 feet of the pin. After Bruce made his birdie putt on hole #2 and scrambled for a par on the third hole, Greg Sadowski stated that he himself needs to be 3 under par just in the first three holes to be tied with Bruce.
Bob Ingram was also on fire on the front nine as he shot a 38. His highlight was a nice par on the dogleg left 525 yard par 5 securing a clear. Bob had troubles on the par 3 #11 hole as his ball found a portion of Barton creek. He was able to smash the ball from the low level creek about 80 yards to salvage a bogey.
Greg Sadowski lasered an 7 iron within 20 feet on the #11 par 3 164 yard hole and made the birdie putt to capture one of his two CTPs in route to a 76 gross score. Joe Hirsch captured the last CTP on the 168 yard par 3 #17 hole with an excellent 4 hybrid shot to capture both the CTP and a clear.
Alan Burke recovered from a disastrous front nine to shoot a 42 on the back side and stay within 3 points of second place. Tied with Alan for overall fourth place is Gary Boukis who struggled through the third round but still remained within a “2 hole” shouting distance of second place.
Gill Nichols birdied the tricky short 328 yard dogleg left #13 hole as his pitching wedge approach was close to capture a clear there. Brian Duffy mastered the dogleg right 372 yard #10 hole but could not convert his birdie putt due to the two maintenance workers cutting down the water weeds.
On the non-golfing side of things Greg Sadowski was leaning on his driver on the 9th tee box. The graphite shaft just snapped in two. Fortunately he was able to get it replaced at Golf Galaxy after the round.
 Top three leaders are;
Greg Sadowski -6
Joe Hirsch -11
Bob Ingram -11
