Richland results

Richland golf course (old Hollow Creek course) provided good course conditions for the fourth Knucklehead Tour Series.  With potential for high humidity & scorching heat, 16 golfers showed up, had a good time, & avoided the potential thunderstorms. The only downside was the dreaded ninth hole at Richland that contains a ravine of about 100 yards that needed to be carried over to the green. A quick post-round survey discovered that the ninth hole gave up only one par, 7 balls were lost in the ravine, and the frustration caused Dick Markle to slam his three-wood on the ground breaking into two pieces.  

Bob Ingram (posing with Bill Haas above) was able to capitalize on 4 birdies in the round in route to a gross 74 net 68 to capture first place.  Sang Trinh finished in second place shooting a smooth 80 for a net 73. Kang Lee kept his score below 100 shooting a net 74 to capture third place. Jeff Gruel shot a net 76 to capture fourth place.  And Greg Muolo rounded out the top 5 shooting a net 77. 

With 16 players in the group all par 3’s had eligible closest-to-the-pins, but no one was able to land on the green on the 190 yard #6 hole.  Brian Duffy got closest on the undulated 150 yard #4 hole, Gill Nichols was able to roll his ball closest-to-the-pin on 180 yard hole #11, and Sang Trinh landed nice iron shot on to 150 yard downhill hole #16. In addition we had a long drive competition and Sang Trinh was able to capture that with a 230 yard drive in the fairway on the par 5 #10 hole.

Kang Lee started off the CLEARS by grabbing the difficult first hole with a very good par. Kang also cashed in a CLEAR with a nice par on the #11 hole. Greg Muolo grabbed two CLEARS on the uphill par 5 second hole with a nice birdie and on the par 3 #4 hole. Bob Ingram cashed in three CLEARS with a birdie from the sand bunker on the long 190 yard par 3 #6 hole, a nice par on the treacherous #9 hole, and a birdie on the par 5 #10 hole.  And rounding the CLEARS was Brian Murphy with a net 3 on the difficult uphill par 4 #13 hole.
